There is magic in a spinning wheel

...Or is it the other way around, there is spinning in a Magic Ball?

Anyway, after finding a piece of soap, a lovely almond-smelling hand cream and a packet of lavender-incense, I finished the Magic Mirror socks. (with only two meters of the yarn left!) Although the sockpattern indeed gets blurred bij the colorchanges, I think they are very pretty mirrorsocks. I am not sure if I will ever wear them, I am considering to frame them and hang them on the wall. :-) The present in the middle of the Magic ball was this:

Can you believe it? Handdyed roving, in vibrant greens and blues. For me, all to spin! Such a good gift now that I am more in the grip of the spinning wheel than Sleeping Beauty ever was Thank you again, Judith!

So far I spun an ounce of Blue Faced Leicester roving, I tried to spin it into a sock weight. I am not sure if I succeeded, and I will try to dye it before it gets knitted. I am unreasonably proud of it, though, you are likely to hear more of it.

Then, my crackdealer Storm Op Zolder provided a Big Bag full of greens. It is all the same, very much appreciated, Blue Faced Leicester wool. This Green Wonder is destined to match the Everlasting First Coat, which I am plodding suffering sewing at tailoring class. More on this Everlasting First Coat later, for now it will be sufficient to tell you I will probably be proudly wearing it in the winter of 2012, thus giving me time enough to spin and ply all this Georgeous Greens, knit a clapotis out of it and tell you all about it.

I got started, as you see, and untill yesterday I was thinking the completion date of the Green Clapotis could probably be a lot sooner, as it is such a joy to spin it. But then, the Magic Ball unveiled its last surprise: More beautiful wool to spin! The green clapotis might have to wait on the side now. Furthermore, Son would really like a Jackyll and hyde, and his girlfriend opted for a black hat, preferably with kitty ears. And maybe whiskers. I never knit on demand, but I dearly love the two so how could I refuse? So to start with, I'm off to search Ravelry to find a cat-eared-hat pattern.

Wouw, wat een prachtig spul allemaal!!! Zalig om zoiets te ontvangen en ook te mogen spinnen. Echt genieten zeker met dit rotweer. Je kunt lekker binnen bezig!

hoihoi, zag ik het goed dat jij burt's bees spulletjes kreeg van jou MBM? heerlijk! ik laat hun spullen door een amerikaanse vriendin invliegen, maar als jij of jouw MBM een nederlands adresje weten dat zou ik een gat in de lucht springen!
